Ideation & Sketch

I began the design process by brainstorming words that resonate with the essence of IMA, NYU Tisch's Interactive Media Arts program.

With these words in mind, I created several initial sketches and selected the one that most effectively captures the program's interactive and artistic spirit through its creative interweaving of letters.

To further develop the design, I experimented with various colors and added the full name of IMA at the bottom to ensure clarity for those unfamiliar with the acronym. I opted for all lowercase letters in the full name to balance the bold uppercase letters of "IMA" while keeping it as supplementary information.

For typography, I selected a circular, round, and spacious sans-serif font to contrast with the bold, sharp lettering of "IMA." This contrast provided a harmonious balance, emphasizing both creativity and clarity.

In terms of color, I primarily explored purple and yellow to evoke feelings of creativity, positivity, youth, and enlightenment—qualities that align perfectly with the spirit of IMA.

Final Outcome

After experimenting with various colors, I aimed to incorporate a professional and calm tone to reflect the program's focus on fostering critical skills and knowledge. Additionally, the original yellow did not meet contrast standards outlined by the WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines). To address this, I adjusted the yellow to a greener tone, symbolizing growth and the transformative journey students experience in the program.
